Breakfast is made much simpler with the help of this breakfast casserole, which consists of bread, sausage, eggs, and cheese. This breakfast casserole is quite versatile, since it may be made and stored in the refrigerator for up to twelve hours before being baked. It is not required to include tomatoes or mushrooms.

Ingredients

  • Cooking Spray
  • 1 (16 oz) package, Regular Flavor. Jimmy Dean Pork Sausages
  • 10 big eggs, gently beaten
  • 3 cups milk.
  • 2 teaspoons of dry mustard.
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 6 cups of cubed bread.
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  • One medium tomato, seeded and sliced.
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms.
  • ½ cup thinly chopped green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.

Directions:

Step 1

The temperature of your oven should be set at 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius). Grease a baking dish measuring 9 by 13 inches with cooking spray.

Step 2

Cook sausage in a large pan over medium-high heat, tossing regularly, until completely cooked and no longer pink, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 3

Prepare the mixture by combining the eggs, milk, dry mustard, and salt in a large bowl. Take a thorough stir.

Step 4

Divide half of the bread equally into the prepared dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 sausage, 1/2 cheese, 1/2 tomato, 1/2 mushroom, 1/2 green onion, and 1/2 black pepper. Repeat layering once more. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole.

Step 5

Bake uncovered for 55-60 minutes, or until the eggs are set. Cover with foil if the top starts to brown too soon.

Notes

In most recipes, one 9.6-ounce container of fully cooked Jimmy Dean Hearty Sausage Crumbles may replace one 16-ounce bag of fresh breakfast sausage.
